BBQ Bacon Burgers with Sweet Potato Fries

BBQ Bacon Burgers with Sweet Potato Fries



Ingredients

Burgers

  • 1lb ground beef, formed into 4 patties and grilled
  • 1 red onion, sliced and grilled
  • 4 burger buns (ours are New Cascadia GF)
  • Bacon, cooked until crispy
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • Pickles (optional–but recommended)
  • Cheese of your choice, cheddar pictured
  • Your favorite BBQ sauce, we used equal parts honey and pureed chipotle chilis in adobo

Sweet Potato Fries (we used this one give or take a step)

  • 3-4 sweet potatoes, cut into wedges
  • 1-2 egg whites, whipped
  • Sea salt for sprinkling
  • Onion powder for sprinkling
  • Chili powder for sprinkling
  • If you like, your own personal aioli sauce 



Method

Grill the burgers to your liking. Easy enough. Load up your burger with cheese, onion, pickles, tomato–whatever you like! Top with bacon and bbq sauce.  For the sweet potatoes, toss them in the egg whites and place (spread apart) on an ungreased cooking sheet. Sprinkle with salt and chili powder to taste. Bake on 350° F for 15-20 minutes, attempting to flip once. Serve together and enjoy slowly!

    I was reading that if you toss sweet potatoes in cornstarch before baking it helps crisp them up but I have yet to try it. The egg white thing looks interesting, I will have to test it out!
