Saturday, I also gained access to a ticket for the Pacific Northwest Bloggers Holiday Event at West Elm downtown (ginormous thank you to Sarah for the opportunity to fill her spot!) The event was sponsored by West Elm and Whole Foods, and there were yummy munchies and bubbly strategically placed around the store. About 50 bloggers were in attendance, and it was odd how a seemingly small group of people could feel so overwhelming in this store! I was surprised I only heard 2-3 crashes of glassware. I was really excited to have been able to attend this event and I’m excited to see where they host the next one! Anyway–stay tuned, I will be doing a guest post on Sarah’s Blog with more pictures).
On Sunday, we headed out to Hood River to pick up wine at Marchesi (we are club members). We could not have picked a more gorgeous fall day to be out there. The warm temperatures, good conversation, and bottomless wines made my day. We were sure to pick up some extra bottles since we likely won’t make it back to the area until the spring. I’m extra excited about adding the Nebbiolo and Uvaggio to our collection (which is up over 30 bottles–sheesh!)
What goes with great wine? Yummy food. For lunch we stopped at Hood River Taqueria. I had a chicken Burrito Loco–which had an interesting, almost marinara sauce on top. Not going to give it much more of a review than that because I definitely wasn’t “all there” thanks to all the wine I had ingested. After that Kevin had to coax me to stay awake on the car ride home–I’m glad he did because there were some breathtaking views of the Columbia River Gorge.
For dinner it was time to test out our new cast iron pizza pan (14″). We threw it together with dough from New Seasons, pizza sauce, fresh sliced mozzarella, red onion, olives, and fresh basil and oregano. Hooray for cast iron! It turned out beautifully.
Looking back on the weekend I almost feel out of breath!
