Homemade Eggnog & Week in Review

Happy Friday! YOU look thirsty and in need of some Holiday Cheer—you should head over to Susannah at Simple Moments Stick for a nice glass of homemade eggnog made by yours truly!
Last weekend I attempted eggnog with bourbon for the first time! I can tell you that I will be doing it again this weekend, it was so delicious and EASY! Not only that, but it will keep in your fridge for a couple days! My only change would be to make slightly less foam (perhaps use 3 egg whites instead of 4–but I am not one to waste!)
If you’re not a fan of eggnog but have a similarly huge crush on Alton Brown (from whom I borrowed this recipe), check out his episode, School of Hard Nogs.
It’s in the most chaotic moments that I shine. I just wish I didn’t put myself in those situations so often. I still haven’t started my Christmas shopping, nor have I scheduled out my posts for the month of January (which was a goal, people!). My week has been full of good things, however.
Clockwise from top left: Spedo37, Jenni’s goodies, eggnog snuggled under my Christmas quilt, & ‘lil Fiat

On Wednesday, I attended Jenni‘s Sparkly #121212 Birthday at The Original Dinerant in downtown PDX. It was a super cute retro restaurant with a modern color palette and menu. Ktams and I split a delicious Delux Burger (highland oak beef, fried onions, blue cheese, gruyere, pickle, shallot aioli), and Jenni sent us home with some super cute goodies in preparation for the END OF DAYS next Friday. I’ve now got my beer, lippy chappy (as I so lovingly call it), bubbles (for entertainment and signaling, of course), and candies (sustenance).
This Thursday was also the first day that my car went BING at me! The first day since moving to Portland that the outside temperature actually hit 37!! It’s amazing how mild the climate is here.
Then that ‘lil guy in the lower right corner is a classic Fiat that decided to park across from me at the grocery store this week. He is the prettiest color green I have ever ever seen, and I hope he and my car were making super awesome Fiat-MiniGP-hybrid babies while I was in doing my shopping (I can hope, can’t I?). I wonder what gestation would be like for a car? Lord knows she’s got plenty of room in the back to grow some Fiat-GP babies!

What’s your holiday prep been like?

I’ve finished my Christmas shopping and most of the Christmas cards have been sent. I’ve still got a stocking to finish sewing and Christmas cookies still need to be made. And now I need to add homemade eggnog to my list of things to do.

Your eggnog recipe looks amazing!!! Would love to try with homemade almond milk and some kind of raw sweetener as a special treat despite my limited diet. Sounds deeeeelish!

That Fiat is suuuper cute. My mom loves those, got one as her first brand-new car way back when!
